The Witches & Warlocks of the UB
The Taken
[presto] Species: Witch Age: 27 Birth date: Player: Willow Rosenburg Face Claim: Alyson Hannigan Bio: Willow was born to Ira and Sheila Rosenburg in the town of Sunnydale, California. She’s friends with Alexander “Xander” Harris from a young age. Eventually she finds her place within a group of good guys, led by vampire slayer Buffy Summers and her watcher, Rupert Giles. Willow helps the group defeat evil, mostly by helping Giles do research either by looking at books or using the internet. Willow begins dating Oz, a werewolf, but after Oz cheats on her with another wolf, he decides to leave town to figure out what separates him from the wolf. Willow then begins dating a girl named Tara, who is also a witch. While dating Tara, her magical abilities flourish. Tara and Willow begin to have fights over Willow’s overuse of magic, and it ultimately leads to them breaking up. After hitting rock bottom, Willow decides to quit magic cold turkey. However, she spirals after Tara is murdered by a human. Willow sucks all of the power from dark arts books, which turns her hair and eyes black and also appears to at times alter her voice. This version of Willow is commonly referred to as Dark Willow. Dark Willow kills Warren, the guy who shot Tara, but she’s not satisfied. She attempts to kill the other two nerds working with him, but Buffy is set on stopping her. Giles shows up with power, which Willow eventually sucks out of him. The magic she takes from him is accompanied by an emotional burst, and feeling all the pain in the world causes her to attempt to end it. She attempts to use her powerful new-found magic to drain the Earth’s life energy through the effigy of the demon Proserpexa, and she almost succeeds until Xander appears and appeals to her humanity through their friendship and the fact that whatever happens, he’ll still love her. Xander finally gets through to her, and her powers drain away as does the black hair and eyes. Willow then goes to Westbury, England to study magic and meditation with a coven of Wiccans that Giles knows. Giles tells her that magic is no longer a hobby or an addiction, but that it is a part of her being. The First Evil attempts to destroy the slayer lineage by killing all potential slayers, so the group opens Buffy and Dawn’s home to them. One of those potential slayers is Kennedy, and she boldly goes after Willow’s affection. After some initial hesitation, the two begin dating. While initially being afraid of using any magic for any reason for fear of Dark Willow coming out, but she ultimately performs a spell using a Slayers’ Scythe that transforms all potential slayers into actual slayers the world over and ultimately helps Buffy and the good guys defeat an army of uber vampires in the Hellmouth. During this spell, her hair turned white as she utilized the powers of good, and at the completion of the spell, her hair was back to its normal red shade. At the end of the battle, Willow stands with the remaining good guys as they look at a giant hole where Sunnydale used to be. Note: Willow is based off the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show & comic book series. Personality Traits: brainy, awkward, and somewhat of a geek, confident and loyal. Abilities: Genius-Level Intelligence, Powerful Magics, Loyal, Expert in Technology. | [presto] Species: Warlock Age: Player: Ethan Rayne Face Claim: Robin Sachs Bio: Ethan Rayne was born to very well-off parents, during the early Fifties in London. His mother, Sonya, was a very proud and active woman, who was a firm believer in womans' rights, and was encouraged in her beliefs and actions by her husband, Damion Rayne. This meant that in general society, Damion was viewed as a bit of an outsider, which is where a young Ethan found his confirmation, that it was safe to stand outside and apart from the crowd, and have his own beliefs. It was a good thing that Sonya knew how to take care of herself, because Damion was attached to the Watcher's Council, as a sorcerer. He reinforced the wards around the Council Buildings, and was one of the first people that was called up, when something magical went awry. Damion was killed in the line of duty when Ethan was eight years old, but this was not before he had installed a love of languages in his young son, and started to teach him how to nurture the base power that he was born with. Feeling that his fathers' duties were what had taken him from him, Ethan grew up raised by his mother alone, and nursing a deep dislike and distrust of the Watchers' Council. When one of their rising stars, a young man roughly his own age, named Rupert Giles, who he had gravitated towards but never made contact with, decided to get the hell out of dodge, while the getting was good, then Ethan followed. In the dark and wild streets of the poor part of London, the days became a bury haze of drugs, alcohol, magic, late nights and hedonistic living. The days started at two or three in the afternoon, the music was good, and other people soon fell under the spell of Rupert's magnetism. Thomas Sutcliff was a teachers' son, looking for a life on the easy street, Randal James would tell anyone who asked that he had escaped from his parents and the church, and Deidree Paige became the only woman in their gang, and an incredible magic user, although her spells were purely for pleasure. These three, Rupert, and Ethan, made up the main core of their gang, while others circulated through the hazy days, like asteroids around the edges of a planet, barely worth getting to know their names, before they crashed and burned. They weren't even sure where the book, that they found the ritual to summon the demon Eyghon came from. One day, it was just there. And one day, the gang decided to experiment. One person would be put to sleep, and then the rest of the gang would summon Eyghon the Sleepwalker into the sleepers' body. It was like an LSD Trip, but without the comedown, or the hangover afterwards. Better than drugs, but still just as addictive. The high from the ritual became the gangs' new reality, and something they couldn't wait to get back to. Something had to give. In their haste, someone messed up, and something went wrong. In order to stop the Demon Eyghon from fully manifesting, Randal was killed. Bloody, and only half-remembered, it was Ethan's first personal experience of death, and not something that he was keen to repeat. Right then and there, he decided to do what he could to avoid it. When Rupert went back to the folds of the Council, and everyone else went their own way, Ethan's addiction to Chaos was already well into being formed. The thought alone of returning to his mother, to starched shirts and expectations, was too stifling, so he stayed. Ethan made a living for himself, as a translator of ancient languages, and a small-time sorcerer for hire, which were things which allowed him to further his craft, get access to uncommon and rare spells, and live comfortably which doing so. All thought of his old friends, and the bad old days was put out of his mind, until an interesting rumor reached his ears. Rupert Giles was in Sunnydale, on the mouth of Hell. And he had a Slayer. Unable to resist sticking his nose in, and trying to get Rupert's nose out of joint, Ethan set off for Sunnydale, and opened a costume shop there. It was satisfying to be there, and right under Ruper's nose, without him knowing a thing about it, and what the people who purchased his wares weren't counting on, was the special ingredient that he planned to add to Halloween Night. On the night when there was meant to be no trouble what-so-ever, he performed a ritual, to let the masks become real. It seemed appropriate, especially when he saw that Ripper, his old friend, seemed to have become his mask, and that his small band believed it. After gaining Rupert's attention, getting a thrashing, and telling him how to break the spell, Ethan took his chance and ran, although he didn't run far. He left a card for Rupert, with 'Be Seeing You...' scrawled on it, and slipped back into the shadows. He could feel the storm on the horizon. It started with dreams, of laughter, voices and the scent of ritual smoke and blood, and from the first one he knew. Another one of their old gang was dead. Eyghon was back. He was just glad that it wasn't Rupert who had been killed, because were that the case, his life expectancy would have gone right down. From the very first moment, Ethan was looking for a way out. For a moment, it even seemed like he may have found an easy one, as he fell under the Slayer's protection, for the sake of Giles. However, his nerve got the better of him, and that quick mind of his came up with another plan - knock the Slayer out, give her the mark that bound them all to the beast demon, and then get rid of his own anchor to it, which was done by pouring acid on his arm. Hurt like hell, but it was worth it. The plan went reasonably well, Eyghon was probably destroyed after trying to jump to Angel, and Ethan left Sunnydale this time, to head back to his easy life in London. Or, if not easy, then at least safe. And comfortable. Around a year later, he was contracted by the Mayor's vampire assistant, Mr Trick, to come and cause a distraction in the charming town of Sunnydale. This time, he was in two minds about stepping back into Ripper's territory, but the took the job, regardless, because the pay that was being offered was more than a little on the generous side, and well... he was curious about what was going on. He doesn't remember much about this job, until the morning that he woke up with a splitting headache, nose freshly broken, and in a hotel about 50 kilometers out of town. His figuring for this, was that he inhaled too much chocolate dust. He still got paid, though, so that was what counted, as far as he was concerned. His final trip to the old Sunnydale, was just over a year later, and bought up so many old memories for him. Too many. He'd been planning on causing trouble from the start, but he wasn't sure quite how he'd go about it. As usual, he had several tricks up his sleeves, and this time he also brought a warning with him, hoping to be able to use it, to stop himself from being hit too hard. He certainly hadn't expected Ripper to invite him out for a drink, which soon became several more, or for himself to feel so comfortable in this old-new situation. The surrounding was far nicer than the dives they'd stalked in London, but the atmosphere at the heart of it was one remembered very well indeed. He spiked Ripper's drink without a second thought, a joke they'd once both have laughed at. Times had changed since then, though. He was partway through packing, to get the hell out of dodge, when the Slayer and Watcher tracked him down, and made him reverse the spell. This time, though, he didn't get a chance to run. Taken into custody by the Initiative, like so many before himself he vanished into the night. Note: Ethan is based off the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show & comic book series. Personality Traits: Abilities: | [presto] Species: Slayer Age: 27 Birth date: 12/14/1980 Player: Faith Lehane Face Claim: Eliza Dushku Bio: Faith was born December 14, 1980 in Boston, Massachusetts. Her parents were abusive alcoholics with her dad leaving them when she was little, which leads to Faith developing trust and emotional issues early in life. After being called as a slayer, she enjoys the attention and companionship of her watcher, who she looks up to as a parental figure. However, the vampire Kakistos brutally kills her watcher in front of Faith, which causes her to retreat to Sunnydale. In Sunnydale, she becomes a friend of Buffy Summers and aids her in slaying. While at first being an ally to the good guys, she suffers several setbacks that set her down a new path. She gets a new watcher in the form of Gwendolyn Post, who tries to drive a wedge between Faith and good guys before eventually being exposed as a bad guy herself, which only further makes Faith weary of trusting people. Faith then get a new watcher in the form of Wesley Wyndam Price, but he is young and rarely respected by Faith (or Buffy) as an official watcher. During this period, she also sleeps with Buffy’s friend Xander. Unfortunately, her good guy status did not last long. One night Faith accidentally kills the deputy mayor, which begins her decent to the side of evil. She almost sexually assaults and chokes Xander. Her watcher Wesley also captures her for the Watchers Counsel, but she escapes and disappears. She effectively seeks out the Mayor, and their relationship blossoms into a father/daughter type of relationship. She uses her inclusion into the Scooby Gang to spy on the good guys, and the spying continues until she is exposed by Buffy and Angel (pretending to be Angelus). During this period, she kidnaps Buffy’s friend Willow, and she wants to kill her but doesn’t. Later, she shoots Angel with a poisoned arrow to which the only cure is for the infected to drain the blood of a slayer. Buffy tracks Faith down at her apartment that the Mayor furnishes for her, and Buffy intends to bring Faith to Angel so that he can drain her of her blood, effectively killing her and curing himself. After a lengthy fight, Buffy stabs Faith in the gut with Faith’s prized knife the Mayor purchased for her. She then falls off the building into the back of a truck, which speeds off, robbing Buffy of her cure. After this Buffy allows Angel to drink her blood, which cures him, but puts Buffy in the hospital for severe blood loss. Faith is in a coma for 8 months until she finally awakens. Discovering that Buffy and her friends have killed the mayor, she is devastated. However, she finds a Draconian Katra that the mayor left for her, which allows her to switch bodies with Buffy. In Buffy’s body, Faith hurts relationships with Buffy’s friends, flirts with vampire Spike, and has sex with Buffy’s new boyfriend Riley. Despite at first treating “being Buffy” as a joke, Faith soon comes to realize that she is envious of Buffy’s life. She’s about to fly out of Sunnydale in Buffy’s body when she sees a church being attacked by vampires. She leaves to save the hostages, and is joined by Buffy in Faith’s body, who has escaped extradition to England to atone for crimes Faith had committed. The girls beat the vampires, and Faith shows a vulnerable side as she beats Buffy, who’s wearing her body, to a pulp while screaming things at her that she believes about herself. Finally, Buffy grabs Faith’s hand, and they switch back bodies with the help of magic from Willow and her girlfriend Tara. After her latest excursion in Sunnydale, Faith heads to Los Angeles where she causes trouble until approached by representatives from the evil law firm Wolfram & Hart who hire her to kill Angel. She tortures her old watcher Wesley, who now lives in Los Angeles and helps Angel and his crew fight bad guys. Finally Angel stops her, and Faith begs for Angel to end her life. However, Angel decides not to give up on her. After a bit, Faith begins to feel remorse for her crimes. Cue Buffy, who comes to Los Angeles, looking to get revenge on Faith for yet again attempting to destroy her life by doing the body switch. The Watcher’s Council also sends people in an attempt to kill Faith. After Angel and Buffy save her, she turns herself in to the police for the murder of the deputy mayor as well as the death of a volcanologist that she killed for the mayor. She receives a life sentence, which she’d serve at least twenty-five years of. While in jail, Faith is attacked by an agent of the First Evil, who is attempting to end the slayer line by killing all slayers and potential slayers. However, she stops the person and also stops herself from killing the person, instead breaking the lady’s wrist. Faith spends about three years in jail, before her ex-watcher Wesley visits her in jail. He tells her that Angel has lost his soul and has become the Angelus again. Faith breaks out of jail to help get the old Angel back. After several altercations with him, Faith decides to sacrifice herself by drinking a vial of a mystical drug called Orpheus. Once Angelus drinks her blood, she hopes the drug in it will subdue him until Willow works the Ritual of Restoration, a spell meant to restore Angel’s soul. While unconscious, Faith astral projects into Angel’s subconscious where she meets up with both Angelus and Angel. Angel persuades her to fight to live. When she wakes up, she goes with Willow to help Buffy and the rest of the good guys take down the first evil. Her and Buffy have a few words, but ultimately Buffy realizes she needs Faith to help fight. After Buffy mistakenly leads the potential slayers into a fight where several potentials die and Xander loses an eye, Faith is appointed temporary leader of the group. This doesn’t last long, though, as Faith leads the potential slayers into a trap set for them by Caleb, an ex-preacher who is working for the First Evil. Faith is wounded, and during this time she and Buffy make peace, noting that they probably don’t get along because two slayers aren’t supposed to exist at the same time. Ultimately, Faith helps Buffy stop the First Evil’s plan to open the Hellmouth and release an army of uber-vampires called the Turok-Han by having Willow use a Scythe in a spell to activate every potential slayer in the world. This allows for the girls to hold off the vampires as they try to escape, and the vampire with a soul Spike uses an amulet to project beams of sunlight, which destroy the Sunnydale Hellmouth. Note: Faith is based off the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show & comic book series Personality Traits: Simple, Strong, Confident, Speaks her mind, Spunky and Sexy. Abilities: Slayer strength. Increased agility and reflexes. Body tends to be more resilient and heals faster. Heightened senses. Somewhat prophetic dreams. Natural slayer instincts, such as fighting skills. | [presto] Species: Slayer Age: 22 Birth date: 4/1985 Player: Vi Face Claim: Felicia Day Bio: Violet, better known as Vi, was born in Dallas, Texas to Adam and Sandra MacKenzie in April of 1985. She has little memory of them however, as when she was only three years of age, she was identified as a potential slayer by the witches under the employ of Quentin Travers and the Watchers Council. She was removed from her parent's home in August of 1988, and given into the care of an ex-watcher still on good terms with the council named Cedric Connelly to raise with his wife. For the next seven years, Violet lived with the Connolly's and through those years, completely forgot her parents, even eventually believing that the Connelly's were her birth parents. This lie was not corrected until Vi was eleven and it was foreseen that she was one of several dozen on the short list to actually have a likely chance of being called at some point in the future. Later in her life, Vi would often question whether this was due to her eventual pilgramage to Sunnydale and her participation in the battle at the end there had marked her in the seer's prophesy. On November 18th, 1997, a field watcher by the name of Bradley Sirk came to visit Vi and the Connelly's and the truth of Vi's origin were finally revealed to her. She was enraged, and it only got worse when the reasons for her kidnapping were revealed to her along with the explanation of the slayer mythos. When Cedric informed her that she would be accompanying Sirk back to England to be trained, the young girl spat in his face and ran away. She was missing for two weeks before they caught up with her on a bus headed for New York City. Vi was brought to London, and then to the council's 'orphanage', a safe house of sorts for potentials that had been taken into the Council's hold. She remained there for a year, amidst a number of other girls who were thought to have a high likelihood of being called. One of the other girls was Elena, a Russian girl a couple years older than her, with dyed pink hair. Over the year Vi and Elena grew close as friends, and were devastated to be separated at the end, both promising the other that they would find the other as soon as they were free of the slayer calling. Unfortunately this would never come to pass, as Elena would be killed by bringers in 2002 while in a Moscow nightclub during the great potential purge of 2002 and 2003 by the First Evill and Caleb. Vi was claimed as a charge by field watcher Davis Clayton, a man in his mid-thirties and an asset that the council was wary of, as like Rupert Giles, Davis was a bit nontraditional in his methods of training his potentials. The pair of them returned to the state of Violet's birth, Texas. Setting up shop in New Canaan, Davis enrolled Vi in the local middle school, her intelligence allowing to skip a grade and join into 6th. This was more due to Davis' want for Vi to have some kind of life outside of what she was training to become, although he was more than strict in allowing her to invite friends to the house. As such, many of those who she'd likely have gotten close to, saw her as stuck up and she was isolated amongst the other students. Her nights for the next years were spent either being used as a human ragdoll, at least in the early days of Davis' attempts to instruct her in physical combat, or pouring over daemonic encyclopedias to learn about what she would be facing. This would be her routine for the next six years. In January 2003, while on their way home from the supermarket, Vi and Davis were run off the road by Caleb, and besieged by bringers. Davis killed a good number of the First's foot soldiers with a revolver before running dry and ordering Vi to run, and to make her way to Sunnydale as he pushed the remaining bringers back with an axe. She took the car and fled, driving mostly through the night until she reached the California border before finally stopping at a motel. The next morning she found Davis' little book of important contacts in the glove box of the car while searching for gas money, and called Rupert Giles after finding his name marked as not just a watcher but 'trusted' ally of one of the current slayers, Buffy Summers. Giles had gotten to her quickly and Vi accompanied him to the Sunnydale hellmouth, quickly falling into the training regime with the other gathered potentials. After the debacle at the Vineyard, Vi was one of the few not to voice complaint against Buffy, though her mindset on the subject was the same shared by the second slayer, Faith Lehane. Later on, Vi participated in the final battle in the cavern beneath the seal of Danthlazor(sp?), and survived the day, even helping to get the heavily injured Rona to safety aboard the school bus. She also took up first aid duty on both Rona and Robin Wood as the bus fled Sunnydale. In the years that followed, Vi continued to fight alongside her sister slayers against the forces of evil. Her slaying took her across the world to Russia, Italy, England, Austrailia and Japan, the latter being her last stop on her tour before returning to Los Angeles, where she would soon be met with a tragic fate. Following an encounter with a siren who enthralled her into turning herself into the new Initiative, and as the mental coercion wore off, Vi attempted to make a break for it. She was shot in the back as a result and is currently paralysed from the waist down, and a prisoner of the sadistic Dr. Richard Owens. Hopefully she will find rescue or escape soon, before she winds up dead. Note: Vi is based off the Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV show & comic book series. Personality Traits: Intelligent, Resourceful, Loyal, Quirky, and Nerdy. Abilities: Slayer strength, agility, and healing, Skilled in hand to hand combat, Skilled in all weaponry. |
