Character's full name: Tara Maclay
Age: 26
Group Species: Witch
Gender: Female
Alignment: Good
Features: Tara isn't very tall, coming in right around 5'4" or 5'5" and weighs about 120 pounds, though she looks a bit heavier than she is due to her carrying most of her weight through her hips. She favors her hair being long, past her shoulders and normally straight with a part in either the middle or side. Speaking of her hair, it's sort of a honey brown, blonde color. Her eyes are naturally half lidded and are somewhere between blue and green. Her mouth is a little on the wide side with full lips.
Her clothing favors modesty, normally ankle length skirts and dresses with sort of a bohemian feel to them. Some people would look at her and instantly peg her for a hippie, and maybe that's not too far from the truth. Her clothing all fits her, but not as well as it could. Flow-y and easy seem to be her fashions of choice.
Tara also carries herself in a way that isn't super modern. She stands with very good posture with her shoulders back and her hips tucked in, probably due to the strict upbringing of father. The stance is a little strange to some people, but seems to be comfortable to her.

Model's name: Amber Benson
Personality: Tara is self-sacrificing to a fault. She would rather incur bodily damage rather than have someone else be hurt. If she was asked to step in front of that bullet to save Willow, she would do it over and over. She asks for no thanks in return for her kindness and helpfulness. Because of this quality, she is easily used and doesn't seem to take it to heart, though it bothers her when people do it. It's one thing to gain help, it's another to take advantage of another person's kindness.
There's a sort of quiet confidence about Tara as well. She begins to show it later, but as she gets more comfortable she stops being quite so shy. She is also able to reconcile differences between people (like when she and Willow broke up but they still were at Anya and Xander's wedding). She tries her best to be friends with everyone until they hurt someone important to her.
Likes: Willow, her friends, Dawn, kittens and other small animals, magic, reading, learning, being able to defend her friends/family.
Dislikes: Her real family, not being with Willow and the other Scoobies, not having a chance to live her life, black magic, Willow's addiction to magic
Strengths: (Supernatural strengths. Abilities you posses that can give you an edge in a fight.)
* Natural witch
* Strong will and determination
* Self sacrificing nature
* Faith in her friends even when she doesn't have faith in herself.
* Tara is a naturally born witch, she has a predisposition for magic without even trying. Her magic tends to be much less offensive than Willow or Amy's though as Tara is truly a nurturer at heart. She is able to levitate, create protective shields, amplify the magical ability of those around her. She is truly a daughter of the Earth and Air, much more grounded in natural, light magic. As far as has been seen, she has never been tempted by the darker side of magic.
Tara also holds a seemingly unusual power of guidance to people. She is able to assist and lead them through their journeys in other planes and thoughts. She can read auras and is able to 'feel' when things are wrong with her friends (seeing that Faith was in Buffy's body). She assisted in a resurrection spell and had the potential to go into healing before her untimely death.
As part of the agreement to bring her back to the world of the living, she has a version of 'The Sight' that she shares with Drusilla, Cordelia and Doyle. Hers deals with more of the magical spectrum, sensing when the balance of the world is off, when danger is coming, locating future slayers. Much like the other three, they cause her great pain and leave her vulnerable to attack just before, during and several moments after.
Weaknesses: (Something that can cause you physical pain, possibly death, if someone else used it against you. ex) A vampire's weakness is sunlight.)
* Vulnerability before, during and after visions
* She will never fully realize her power as she will never fall to black magic.
* Someone using Willow, Dawn or any of the other scoobies as a weapon against her.

History: Tara was born into a small family with one older brother, a mother and a father. Tensions were always high between her mother and father, arguments and abuse ran rampant. Because of this, Tara developed a stress focused stutter due to her rough childhood. Her mother though, she was kind and nurturing to Tara when it could be afforded. She was a witch, naturally born and saw the same strength in Tara. At a young age they did small spells together. At seventeen, Tara's mother suddenly and unfortunately died. Tara rebelled against her father and brother, sneaking out and practicing magic. That was when her father told her the truth of her nature and what killed her mother. The women in the Maclay family... they were demons. She had until her twentieth birthday before the demon part took over.
At 18, she escaped the clutches of her abusive and bitter family and ran to Sunnydale of all places. There she settled into the reclusive life of a freshman, hardly speaking, being looked over, not having friends. No one was pressuring her to be anything she wasn't, or saying she was a bad girl for doing things she enjoyed. Then her life changed forever, she met Willow. After realizing how strong they could be together to block the door from the foot soldiers of the Gentlemen, they were almost inseparable. They started to hang out more and more and Tara was initially very attracted and attached to the redhead. Everything nearly fell apart when Oz re-introduced himself to Willow's life. After a bit of an altercation Tara informed Willow of Oz's capture by the Initiative. Once Oz was saved and he and Willow came to an agreement on their relationship and Tara was sure her chance for happiness with Willow was gone. She told her that it would be okay, that they could still be friends, but Willow surprised her and chose Tara over Oz. That was the beginning of a very loving relationship.
Willow and Tara remained close and doing spells, becoming stronger, though Tara didn't see growth in her. She became incredibly useful to all parts of the Scoobies, working well with every member. She came to see Giles as a father figure quite easily, though she always calls him Mr. Giles. On her twentieth birthday a portion of her family came to call. They came warning her of her impending demony side. After a bit of trial and a spell that worked a little too good, the Scoobies stood up for Tara, though they didn't know her extremely well.
Tara became extremely close to Buffy and Dawn after the passing of Joyce, understanding what it felt like to lose a parent. She did her best to be a rock for Willow's sadness, trying to help where she could and be supportive. When she was struck insane by Glory she relied on Willow and the other Scoobies for safety, having to trust them. At the final battle with Glory, Tara held Willow as she cried over the loss of Buffy. Together with Willow, Spike and Xander, they became the parents for Dawn. Tara was definitely the heart and mother figure to Dawn. Tara assisted in the reviving of Buffy, but that started the downward spiral between her and Willow. The ultimate blow was after a particularly bad argument, Willow altered Tara's memory to forget the fight. Once Tara became aware of the spell, she was hurt and disgusted. It was no different to her than what Glory had done.
To Tara, Willow was using magic too much, it was getting risky and could become addicting. After being pushed far enough, Tara separated herself from Willow, but remained close to Dawn and Buffy. She put aside her differences for Anya and Xander's ill fated wedding, that began the repairing of their relationship. It was baby steps from there and Tara realizing that Willow really was trying to change her ways and slow down. After being separated for awhile, she and Willow were able to reconcile and she dove head long into the hopes of a long happy life with her lover.
But... Nothing in Sunnydale came easy.
On a warm May morning, after their first night back in each others arms, a stray bullet meant for Buffy struck Tara in the heart, killing her almost instantaneously. She collapsed and her last few seconds were spent looking at the woman who had made her life worth living. Everything was cut far too short and she was left wondering why she hadn't fought harder to stay with Willow.
Waking up on an extra-planer dimension was never the best way to wake up. Sitting in a shining white room while everything was explained to you... The room had designed itself around her, become green and covered in soft clovers. Her whole future had been laid to rest as two ethereal lights of twinkling gold told her the story. They showed her glimpses of what could be, what her decisions she had to make. She was here, guarding the core of Gaea until the world came out of the shadow of the First Evil. She got to design the core in her mind, what she would want to look at, tend to for the rest of days until the darkness passed. What would happen after the darkness passed was still a mystery.
What form she chose? A willow tree, naturally. She pruned it and rested under it's branches. Her hands touched all of the tree except the bark. Sometimes she wanted to though, but it wasn't... allowed. Something stopped her from touching the core of the willow tree. She didn't see what was going on with her friends, she felt it more than anything. The darkness that consumed willow, the death of Warren Mears, the uber vamps, the first evil, Caleb. Part of her went into the spell to awaken all the slayers, that last push that Willow needed. Tara saw her. She was right there, almost with her, so close. Tara had dashed forward to try to catch her, to say she loved her. She forgave her. She wished her happiness with Kennedy. Anything... Everything... Just to touch her. Her hand slammed against the bark and she remembered why she didn't touch it, it was covered in thorns. The beauty was covered in pain, the love wrapped in danger.
As her blood slipped down her arm and stained her dress, the two lights returned to her. They told her that her time had come to serve the seed of magic. Her sacrifice had been necessary, and the blood spilled at the tree showed her promise to be vital to the world of magic. If she would choose to accept the powers, the visions, the pain, the responsibility, she could be given life back. A more guarded one this time. They needed to protect their asset after all. As she looked down at her hand, the blood had stained her white dress, a silent nod came from her as tears fell.
RP Sample: Pain. That was the first thing to make her realize everything was real again. The throbbing in her hand from the thorn that tore her skin open. It hadn't hurt by the tree, now it did though. Her dress was fresh though, her feet were bare and her hair still braided with clippings from the willow tree. Her breath hitched and her body lurched as she took her first breaths of the chilly morning in the woods of England. It was colder than she remembered, and something told her she wasn't in southern California anymore. Judging by the thickness of the woods around her and the mist that weighed down on you, it wasn't even America. It was almost hard to breath the air was so thick around her.
Had it worked? She was back on Earth? Things hurt and she had to breath and suddenly her heart began to ache. "Oh my goddess..." She murmured as that broad, shy smile of hers spread across her face. There was a moment of glee that crossed her and she reacted with a goofy little dance and took a breath at the end. Now to find Willow and the others! But wait... no... not yet. A voice pulled her head, a flickering white light in front of her, "A wisp, oh you're even cuter than your pictures showed you to be. You've got a place to take me right? That's what you do." Her bare feet moved across the soft ground of deteriorating leaves, following the little fairy light as it pulled her along. At the edge of the woods she met a woman sort of shrouded in darkness and greenery.
She beckoned Tara to follow her to the coven. Tara spent several weeks in solitude, catching up on things. From historical events to pop culture. Every day she asked to go and see Willow, she knew the small coven had connections to the network and if Willow was still doing magic she was going to be a beacon. The other witches wouldn't let her go, not yet, not until they got to see her first vision to figure out how bad they would be for her. That was when the first one hit. She screamed for a moment and tried her hardest to fight the pain but retain the vision. A woman in London was plotting to abuse the blackest of magic to gain vengeance on her husband. Two things might happen, either she would succeed and her husband would die (and D'Hoffryn might offer her a job) or she would get stopped just in time and they would attempt to re-educate her.
After that first vision they allowed her to pack things up and sent on a flight with potentials to Sunnydale. They were informed of a guest coming by the coven, but not who it was. Tara hoped the surprise would be a happy one. She knew that Willow had seemed to move on, or at least somewhat and she'd step aside if there was someone else, but if there wasn't... There were years to make up for. Friendships to rekindle and a Dawn that was all grown up. Before she even realized, Tara was at the end of the walk to baggage claim in the airport, soon to face a familiar face. "I c--c--c--can't... What if sh--sh--she's happy?" A weak little sniffle came from her modestly dressed(as always) frame. Her arm was covered in sort of a poorly fitted olive green hoodie and she rose it to wipe her eyes and her fingers toyed with the edge of the sleeves as she stared down the hall, wondering who it was
