History: Harper Monroe was born on April 10th, 1983, some eight minutes before her identical twin sister Paige, at New York Methodist Hospital, to a local pair of music teachers. In her early years, the small family lived in a decent size house until it was destroyed in a fire when the twins were four years old, and up to that point both Harper and Paige were happy and healthy young girls. Losing everything changed that and shortly afterwards the family of four was living in a cramped apartment in the Boerum Hills projects.
From then on there was always an underlining anger in both of the young girls, and it only intensified as they grew up and suffered through school. While both were of a slightly above-average intelligence and thrived academically for the most part, the more cruel of their classmates with more well-off home lives took pleasure in reminding them of such, along with no end of pranks and taunts, although neither Harper nor Paige would ever break under the pressure of the recurrent abuse.
Things got slightly better about the time that the twins were thirteen, finding a lifelong friend in Riley Savage, a fellow music enthusiast and who they bonded with over their shared passion. It would be Riley who would introduce the twins to the genre of punk rock and after it captured the love of both, the young trio would form the garage band known as Downtrodden Daughters in early 1999. With Harper on bass, Paige on vocals, and Riley playing drums, they also recruited Colleen Briggs for guitar and for the next few years as they went through high school they would play small gigs as oft as possible in effort of getting noticed.
And get noticed they would, but not for several years and a few changes, as when they graduated high school in 2002, Colleen would leave the band following heavy pressure from her parents to attend college in south Florida rather than ‘waste away in Boerum Hills chasing an impossible dream’ as Colleen would relate to Harper and the others before leaving. The remaining trio was still hopeful and would attend college locally as they played small clubs in the area for much of the following year.
Then in February of 2003, the Downtrodden Daughters would participate in a talent search contest, and while placing fourth over-all for a small prize of 5k that was split evenly between them, they had the ‘good fortune’ of attracting the interest of Dustin Bray, who would soonafter become their manager and at the time it seemed the answer to all their problems. After a couple of meetings between them, Bray would introduce the trio to Elena Fairchild and Violet Derricks, who would become a second vocalist and the new guitarist respectively.
For a few more months, the band, now rebranded as the Carnage Vixens by Bray, would continue to play clubs, but now on a wider scale as they began to gain popularity in the Tri-State area of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, until August of that year when Bray managed to land them a tour gig opening for Lacuna Coil as they travelled the East Coast and Deep South of the United States. It was during their first taste of success that the first cracks began to surface, even if they didn’t realize, and there was never a real point in time that Harper and Elena ever fully got along.
Shortly after returning to NYC following the tour in December, the Carnage Vixens would be signed to Empire Records for a three-album deal, with their first released CD ‘Vile Streets’ gaining them a bit of an underground cult following, and unbeknownst to them, popularity among certain vampires for their sound. Then another tour, this time solo, would bring them to the West Coast for the first time and after running into a couple of members from Alterbridge, they would find themselves invited along for a winter tour of Australia and Japan with that band and also Avenged Sevenfold.
It was toward the end of their run in Japan, while visiting Osaka just days before they were due to return home, that Harper, along with Paige, would get into a major and public fight with Elena after learning that she was high on Opiates while preforming and slurring lyrics that nearly ruined their entire image. Afterwards, the final four dates of the tour would be cancelled as Elena ran off to a rehab back home in the states, the rest of the band and Bray following a day later. This was the beginning of the end, as their problems only continued to pile up afterwards.
It was Riley who was the one to discover the secret Bray was hiding a month later when they were all back in New York and still waiting for two-thirds of their money owed from the tour, only when Bray was confronted by the Vixens minus Elena did he admit that the rest of the money was gone, used to pay off outstanding loans and also that he was still more than one-hundred thousand dollars in debt. They fired him on the spot, losing his promotional skills due to an unwillingness to trust him and risk getting fucked over again.
Then some eight months later, in December of 2005, Riley was nearly crushed to death by falling lights above a club stage, landing her in a four month coma, and in the aftermath, a relapsed Elena would say some cruel words about Riley’s health that resulted in the twins beating the shit out of her, and also causing a grudge between Harper and Violet when in efforts to break up the fight, Harper would accidentally shatter and ruin Violet’s nose in efforts to hit Elena. Twenty-four hours later, the Carnage Vixens were no more, breaking up and fleeing as far from one another as possible. Elena went back to Minneapolis, Violet went out to California and the twins would return to Boerum Hills, now again almost as broke as when they started.
In late April of 2006, Riley would also return to Boerum Hills after her discharge from the hospital and for the next year and a half, the reformed Downtrodden Daughters would resume playing local clubs and go through a string of replacements for Violet and Elena, none lasting longer than a couple months, and found only a fraction of their previous success.

Then in October of 2006, Harper's string of misfortune would once again strike, as while on a 'head clearing' jog through Central Park, she would run afoul of and get bitten by a werewolf. Realizing what she'd been turned into within a few weeks, and terrified out of her mind, the twenty-three year old bassist would flee her hometown and everyone & everything she knew and loved out of fear of hurting them. All the way across the country to California, where she hid for months until one night while squatting in an abandoned building on the outskirts of Los Angeles, she was attacked by several demons who's home she had inadvertantly invaded.
Having a fondness for werewolf meat, they kept her as a prisoner for a bit over a week, all the while locked in a cage as the full moon grew closer. To her luck, a fellow werewolf named Daniel Osbourne would find and rescue her, and shortly thereafter Harper would move to Sunnydale with him, and after revealing her own musical talents, she would join the latest incarnation of Dingoes.
